Rowing Information

Rowing at Nepean

The Nepean River is one of Australia's best natural rowing courses and we are fortunate to have it here in Penrith.

The Nepean Rowing Club is dedicated to developing the sport of rowing with our young adults. The club runs a special 'Talent Identification Program' (TIP) searching for people with select attributes that are characteristic to rowing. Nepean rowers are very competative and the club has enjoyed a great deal of success in rowing over the years.

Our Captain and coaches are all volunteers who donate their valuable time and experience to the rowers and the sport.

If you are interested in rowing please send your information to rowing@nepeanrowingclub.org.au

TIP

The TIP or Talent Identification Program recognises the need to develop the sport of rowing in our young adults.

The minimum age of joining the TIP is 13 yrs. The coaches scout local schools for teenagers interested in pursuing rowing. Ideally those interested do need to fit a certain physical profile.

They are then put through a learning/training program for an inititial period of six weeks teaching the basics of rowing. The schedule becomes more demanding requiring commitment for early mornings, longer sessions and self discipline.

Nepean has produced many successful rowers in the years the club has been operating with rowers competing and placing at state, national and world levels.

Masters Rowing

The Club currently has a squad of 'Golden Oldies' who meet every Sunday morning for their weekly constitutional. They come in all ages, some compete, some row for the exercise but they all love being on the water. If you are well over 21!! and are interested in being a veteran rower please send your details to James at nrcmasters@optusnet.com.au
